Dr. Dexter-Dean S. Colquhoun is a marine scientist, environmental consultant, and lecturer specializing in marine ecology, fisheries science, and climate adaptation. Currently a full-time lecturer at Caribbean Maritime University (CMU), he teaches and develops curricula in marine sciences, biotechnology, and coastal management.

With a Ph.D. in Marine Sciences from The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona, Dr. Colquhoun has dedicated his career to research and policy in Marine Protected Area Management, fisheries conservation, and climate resilience. His doctoral work focused on water quality assessment and plankton dynamics for Special Fishery Conservation Area establishment in Jamaica.

As a former Environmental Analyst and Environmental Management Consultant at Environmental Solutions Ltd., he contributed to key environmental impact assessments, biodiversity studies, and conservation projects across the Caribbean. His expertise has supported initiatives such as the National Ecosystems Restoration Plan for Jamaica, coral reef threat assessments in East Portland, and strategic environmental planning for sustainable coastal developments.

Beyond academia and consultancy, Dr. Colquhoun is actively involved in coral restoration projects and climate adaptation research, working with governmental agencies, NGOs, and international organizations. He also brings a creative edge to his work as a musician and pianist, blending scientific precision with artistic expression.
